The road from Makkah to Madinah is one of the most travelled pilgrim routes in the world. Every year, millions of Umrah pilgrims make this journey to visit Masjid al-Nabawi — the mosque of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — in Madinah after completing their worship in Makkah.

The distance from Makkah to Madinah is approximately 450 km via the Makkah–Madinah Expressway. A private car takes between 4 and 4.5 hours under normal conditions. During peak Umrah seasons, particularly Ramadan and the days before Hajj, allow up to 5 hours due to higher traffic.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway connects the two cities but requires a separate taxi to reach the train station from your hotel in Makkah, then another taxi from Madinah station to your hotel — adding 30 to 60 minutes on each end, plus luggage handling at two stations.

A private car goes directly from your hotel door in Makkah to your hotel door in Madinah. For families with children, elderly pilgrims, or groups with luggage, this is significantly more comfortable and often faster overall.
